Subvert was born In October 2000, we decided to create the kind of shop that we would like to buy our gear from. We started out in a small shop, in the Manchester suburb of West Didsbury. As we grew and made friends, it became apparent that we needed a larger base on our home turf, and it wasn’t long before the perfect opportunity arose, a shop on Oldham Street in Manchester’s trendy Northern Quarter, so we went for it.

After a couple of years of providing great service on Oldham Street, news reached us that at long last, indoor, year-round snow was coming to Manchester. From the off, we knew we had to be there. Our Manchester activities were relocated (with much nostalgia and emotion) to a shiny new store at Chill Factore, where we can be found today.

Being located in the UK’s largest indoor snow dome (from day one), enables us to provide a selection of the latest boards and bindings from our extensive range of brands for you to demo and ‘Try Before You Buy’

At Subvert, we’re proud of the fact we are an Independent Small Business, owned and ran by snowboarders, we offer honest, friendly and knowledgeable advice, without the hard sell. Pop in for advice on anything from what to buy as an absolute beginner, to the best of next year’s kit. We can talk snowboarding all day long!

Make sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook as we regularly host events, competitions, giveaways and the occasional party (we will be turning 25 next year)! We also do on the slope FREE of charge demo events, all you need to do is purchase a lift pass.

Chill Factore members receive a 10% discount year-round on non sale items, we also run a loyalty scheme as a thank you to our loyal customers and every year in collaboration with Chill Factore we host a charity event called SubJam, raising money to fight cancer. So far we have raised £124,564 for The Christie Charity. Come join us on October 4th and be a part of the Subvert Community.
